Sunday Salon: Little Bits of Everything

The Sunday Salon.comI decided that I rather like the concept of a “Sunday Salon” posts, even if I’m not officially a part of it. And so I may have to think of my own original name ;) I have a feeling I posted something along the same lines last year. Guess I am no star in thinking of names.

In reading news I seem to have finally resolved the issue of reading too many books at a time. I finished most of them. While I am now still in the middle of 3 books or so, it feels a lot more organised. Plus, two of those are books I absolutely love up to now: Consequences and The Weird Sisters.

In bloggish news, I submitted 5 links for my Book Blogger Appreciation Week nomination. I have been bothering Ana and Nat with questions of if I should submit, since when I read through the posts of the last year, the things that stood out most were a) the absences and b) the lack of discussion posts or things like that. Also, my self-depreciation kicked in. Basically, Amy told me to just submit and stop doubting. And so I did. I wanted to take this moment to thank the people who were so kind as to nominate me. Thank you very much.

In non-book or blog related news, I have little to add, except that I took the day off and visited a zoo with my “cousins-in-law” (that probably isn’t a term, is it?). Fun day, though we could have done with a little less rain.

In a disturbing manner, I have been fascinated with the song “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga. This is the most embarrassing thing I have admitted about music lately. But apart from listening to Cloud Control’s album on repeat, I have been listening to Lady Gaga these last few days. I have no clue how this happened. Obviously, I do remember how the song played on the radio while I was taking a break from thesis-writing last week and that it got stuck in my head. I meant to say I have no idea why I now actually enjoy the song.

What is your Sunday like? Reading anything special?

  1. Consequences! That’s one of my favourite Persephones and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. Also, you know I’ll be cheering for you for BBAW!

  2. Reading polish crime novel and enjoying it very descriptive writer , my current listen is Jonathan Wilson debut album that came out this week mellow stuff from same label as fleet foxes all the best stu

  3. Hm – I like the Sunday Salon concept too. I may have to start this myself. If you come up with a new name, I might take part. :-)

  4. LOL about Lady Gaga ;) And good for you that you just went ahead and submitted your posts for BBAW!

What I don’t understand is why you don’t want your Sunday Salon posts to be (called) Sunday Salon posts if you like the concept??? You could just submit your blog URL to the pipeline and that’s it! There’s really nothing to it. ;)

  5. Don’t be embarrassed. I too like Paparazzi and just about anything Lady Gaga sings. Good luck during BBAW!

  6. I like Paparazzi, and I use cousin-in-law too. Sometimes it comes into my head before “the husband/wife of my cousin”.
Congrats on being up for BBAW!

  7. I’m not an official Sunday Saloner either but I’ve been doing the post for about some time. The Mr. Linky was full when I tried to sign-up so I just went ahead and started using the title and sometimes the button without officially joining in. No one has complained as far as I know.

  8. congratulations by the way.

  9. Haha…I’m a fan of paparazzi too which totally doesn’t go with the rest of my music tastes, lol. Congrats on the BBAW nomination!! I’m glad you submitted :) And you have to let me know your secret of only reading one book…I seem not to be able to do that :p

  10. Glad to hear you submitted :D

  11. How about The Reading Room as a possible title?

  12. Congrats on the BBAW nom!!! :)
And I have never done a Sunday Salon and when I heard ‘they’ weren’t allowing any more bloggers to participate (huh?!), I decided I probably just shouldn’t. I sometimes get on a rebel streak when I am usually such a joiner.
I think cousins-in-law makes perfect sense.

One of the things I love about book blogging is that it enables conversation. Please don't hesitate to share your thoughts!
