Heehee.. And here are a few more books to add to the pile.

A vlog in which I make embarrassing mistakes in grammar/pronounciation/word sequence/mix up which and who. And who knows what else… But yes, I am too lazy to re-record.

  1. Wow, what a fantastic pile of books! All of them sound really interesting, some more than others :) Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on more of them. I love that you picked up so many :)

  2. love your vlog agree with point about reading from one area at one hard ,I looking forward to your dutch lit month ,have read tomorrow and king of tuzla ,have another couple possibly on shelves ,great NYRB selection only one of them ,alll the best stu

  3. I liked Stardust (the movie) too. I saw that before I read the book as well and thought both were really good. Those are some great looking books! I’m jealous of that set of classics and the NYRB classics too! I sooo want to read The Dud Avocado. Great vlog!

  4. Pippi Longstocking doll! So cute!

I’ll tell you a thing: I dressed up as Pippi for Halloween one year when I was young. I had the hair and everything– my mom stuck it up with pipe cleaners.

That sounded more interesting before I typed it up here. :(

  5. What a wonderful pile to win! congrats

  6. You’ve got some big books there! I always get confused with the webcam too. It’s so frustrating. I love how you said women in period dress will sell you. For me it’s a farm scene. Every time.

  7. I love your Pippi Longstocking. Great vlog and lovely to get to know you.

  8. A lovely vlog! I’m so glad you did another one, and your books look fantastic!

  9. If it helps, I’ve never heard of Herman Koch either.

I think the thing with the movie version of “The Golden Compass/Northern Lights” is that a lot of people say “This is a bad movie” when what they actually mean is “This is a bad adaptation”. I hope that you’ll enjoy the book every bit as much as you enjoyed the movie, though! (Same with “Stardust”, I think. In its own right that’s a wonderful movie, but it emphatically isn’t the book. I actually thought that, despite their differences it actually complimented the book quite nicely, but I’m weird. ^-^)

And you’re so right about obligatory reading… I had a love/hate relationship with all of my course books, but those months I read only for university I didn’t read nearly as much as I did when I combined them with leisure reading. I was so much more motivated to pick books up. (Also to finish them because I did really have to move onto the next course book. ^-~)

This was a lovely vlog, Iris! Really fun to see all those books you’ve got lined up for next month and all the other books you’ve received! *waves*

  10. Will be following Dutch lit with interest, as I thoroughly enjoyed Tomorrow Pamplona & will be on the look out for more great books.
    thanks.

  11. I’m going to reread Pippi! It was a favorite as a kid. :-)

    leuke vlog!

  13. Lots of great books, Iris. And can I just say I love your vlog:) I think you’re doing a great job and it must be difficult juggling your studies with life and other stuff. Good luck, and don’t feel bad if you’re not blogging as much. It’s only natural and you need to do your best in your work. We’ll all be here!

One of the things I love about book blogging is that it enables conversation. Please don't hesitate to share your thoughts!
